1812 Headgear


Due to variations between manufactures on hat sizes we do not accept them on shakos.

If you do not have a cloth ruler to measure around your head; you can use a string and mark it and then lay it flat and measure it.


#607  1813 leather Shako (Tombstone Pattern)   $315.00 (Due to dimensional weight on shipping hat are considered a separate item.)

The 1813 pattern shako the U.S. Army used was hat made entirely of leather.   This hat has an external plume holder which is on the left hand side.  The sweatband has a drawstring liner.  This hat comes with a light leather cape folded around the back of the hat held in place with two buttons at the back edge of the brim.   A wool cord and tassel, which is attached at the upper side by a copper ring and to the button on the left hand side.

If you want us to attach the plate on the hat there is a $25.00 charge, and you must specify when ordering.

Please specify either silver or gold color for eagle in the cockade.

If you wish a round cockade please specify ordering.

Specify head circumference in inches when ordering.  We no longer will accept hat sizes for ordering shakos.

Crown soap-  4oz of soap in a tin container $10.95

We are now offering this period soap for cleaning leather.  This is based off a period recipe for soap liked by harness makers.  This is not like modern saddle soaps but instead is mostly made from cod oil.  This type of soap will clean the leather but not be harsh enough to damage the leather.   Leather items should be cleaned with soap several times a year in order to prevent the build up of dirt and other things that will damage the grain surface.

This is specially designed product to give you maximum life out of your leather items.  This is the clear wax, for use on russet items.  This wax contains a natural mold and mildew inhibiter, along with protection from insect damage.

This is specially designed product to give you maximum life out of your leather items.  Lamp black has been added to help maintain the black color of your leather items.   This wax contains a natural mold and mildew inhibiter, along with protection from insect damage.
