Both the narrow fall and broad fall trousers were used at different times during this period, so please research your period impression.
Narrow Fall Straight Cuff Trousers
The most common trouser of the period was the straight cuffed, narrow fall front style with two side and one top entry pocket. These were issued in white, gray, or brown wool or white linen or cotton. Due to the low quarter shoe of the period, the half gaiter was worn, but it was left under the trousers.

Legging cuff trouser were slightly looser fitting trouser with a button up legging cuff. They were issued in white, gray, or brown wool or white linen or cotton. although cotton we considered fatigue wear, they are noted as having been worn for regular duty.
