Canteen Care
* After each use rinse your canteen with warm water and baking soda. Store your canteen with the cork out. This will help prevent rust and corrosion.
* We have not affixed the canteen strap on drum canteens because many wish to paint their canteen. This will also give you the ability to adjust the strap length according to your needs.
* We recommend that you use only distilled water in your canteen. Tap water contains many minerals that will
promotes rust rather than prevent it.

#406 US Bullseye Canteen
$60.00
Made from approximately 1862-1864. A war-time improvement of the M1858. It was found that the pressed rings added no strength to the seam area and the experiment was abandoned. However, hundreds of thousands were made. It is really just a variant of the Pattern 1858. The sling bracket does not have a hole for cork and chain. The cork is tied onto the bracket with a cotton string. This canteen is provided with a cork and string, wool cover and cloth sling.
Holds approximately 42oz.

Our reproduction strap is of oil finish leather approx. 73" long and 5/8" wide. The strap utilizes a small roller buckle for adjustment. There is a triangular piece of leather attached behind the buckle to keep it from rubbing your uniform.
